ETES WEEKLY DIGITAL COMMUNICATION
Weekly Update Week of September 5-8
Last week we returned to school on Thursday, August 31st. We welcomed our first through fourth graders. It was a fantastic first day filled with lots of laughter, smiles and hugs! This week we will be hosting our preschool and kindergarten expectation night on Wednesday, September 6th from 4:45-5:30 pm. Students in preschool and kindergarten will begin school on Monday, September 11th.
Classrooms will be practicing Fire Safety expectations over the next few days. It common to have a fire drill at the start of the school year. We will inform families if and when the Fire Department completes this drill.
Parent Square
This is a reminder to our ETES families that our two-way communication platform has changed to Parent Square. You should have received an email invitation from the platform ParentSquare asking you to register. We ask that you register as soon as possible to ensure that your child’s classroom teacher can begin communicating as soon as they have updated their lists.
Upcoming Dates
Attached in the news and announcements section below is our district calendar for the upcoming school year, as well as our school’s September calendar which students will be taking home in their backpacks.
- Expectation Night for Preschool and Kindergarten is Wednesday, September 6th from 4:45-5:30 pm *
- ETES Spirit Day- Friday, September 8th- Wear blue or your Bulldog gear!
- Grandparents Day- Sunday, September 10th.
- The first day of school for students in Preschool and Kindergarten is Monday, September 11th
- Patriot Day- September 11th.
- Penguin Day- Friday, September 15th. To help launch another fantastic year of STMath, join us in wearing black and white for Penguin Day!
* Our PTO will be hosting a 'Popsicles & Play' event after each Open House beginning at 5:30. Weather permitting, Popsicles will be handed out under the awning at our front doors. Families are welcome to mingle and get to know other families within their grade level at the playground located to right of the school .
Arrival and Dismissal: Important Things to Know
ARRIVAL: As stated in our school handbook… “Tier Three Students should arrive at school between 8:45 am and 8:55 am. Students who arrive at their classroom after 9:00 A.M. and are not transported by our bus company are late for school. Repeated tardiness is regarded as a serious problem that may affect a child's work habits and success at school. At the elementary grades parents are expected to ensure that their child arrives at school on time.” (page 6 of the TPS handbook)
Families transporting their children must drop off their child at the gymnasium door (E11). A map and more information regarding drop off and pick up has been attached below in our News and Announcement Section.
- Drop off will begin at 8:45am. Students are not permitted into the building before that time. We ask that guardians remain in their vehicle. Staff will assist students in getting in and out of vehicles. Please be sure to give goodbye hugs at home to ensure that we can keep traffic moving much quicker.
- We will be closing our drop off gate promptly at 8:55am. At that time guardians must drive to the front door and escort their children to the front door where they will be asked to sign in their students at the main office. Late students will be marked tardy.
DISMISSAL: To help with traffic and congestion on Stevens Street, we will continue our staggered 'Drive Up, Pick Up' process. If you plan to transport your student each day, please see times and pick up information in our News and Announcement Section below.
We begin dismissing our bus and van students at roughly 3:10. Bus details and information can be found in our news and announcement section below.
