ETES WEEKLY DIGITAL COMMUNICATION
Welcome Back and Happy New Year ETES families,
We hope you and your students were able to enjoy some well deserved time off with the ones you love. We hope that your students are well rested and ready for an exciting rest of the school year. January always brings a fresh start with new goals and adventures. This week our teachers will ease back into school with reminders of expectations and content review as well as reflecting on student progress and goal setting!
In January, we begin our middle of the year benchmark assessments. Teachers will be assessing your students throughout the month of January to analyze student progress in reading and math skills. They will then use the data from testing to support and inform their instruction moving forward this year. We are excited to review and discuss the progress our students have been making so far this year!
A FEW REMINDERS
If your child is in need of winter coats, hats and gloves, please be sure to reach out to us. We would be happy to support any families in need. Students do go out for recess all winter long as long as weather and windchill are not a factor. Be sure that your student is coming to school with warm winter clothing for outdoor play!
ETES Spirit Gear that was ordered online was handed out to students the week before vacation. If you have any questions regarding your order, please reach out to Mrs. Dalessio at [email protected].
Lastly, please avoid any change of dismissal from occurring after 2:45pm. If you know that your student's dismissal plan will change on any given day or time of day, be sure to contact the office well before 2:45. Dismissal changes should be sent in writing to a classroom teacher if at all possible. If the dismissal change was unplanned, please contact the office as soon as possible so that communication can be shared with appropriate staff and so that your child’s dismissal is prepared for. We can not dismiss students from the office after 2:45pm. We appreciate your understanding.

STUDENT OF THE MONTH CHARACTER TRAIT
The character trait for the month for December was Generosity. We will be celebrating last month’s students on January 18th. Information regarding the virtual celebration will be sent home with selected students before the event.
For the month of January we will be discussing and learning about Leadership. Students who show strong leadership skills demonstrate the ability to build trust, inspire confidence, motivate, and positively influence individuals and groups by setting an example for their peers. Please join us in sharing what it means to be a leader with your students.
REMINDER: NURSE
Please remember that the nurses office is running low on available items for change of clothing. If possible, we would like to ask that students keep an extra pair of clothes in their backpacks in case of accidents, spills, or falls. The nurses office is very low on extra clothing and if items are scarce, parents would be called to bring clothes in if a change of clothes is not available.

There will be a PTO meeting, Wednesday, January 11th at 6:30 in our school library. We hope you can join us!
