ETES WEEKLY DIGITAL COMMUNICATION
Good evening everyone!
We hope you had a restful three day weekend with your families. This week is Autism Acceptance Week at ETES. Please see details below regarding the various Spirit Days we have this week to promote awareness and acceptance of the autistic community.
Kindergarten Registration has officially opened for the 2023-2024 school year. If you or someone you know has a child turning five years old before August 31st, please share enrollment details with them. There will be a Kindergarten Registration Night for ETES families on Thursday, May 18th from 4:30-5:30pm. During this time guardians can come to ETES to get help with registering your child. You can find more information regarding Kindergarten Registration in the news and announcements section below.
There will be a preschool registration night on Tuesday, April 25th at Mulcahey from 5:30-7:30pm. Registration packets will be made available after this event at Mulcahey, East Taunton, and Chamberlain.
Important Reminders from our Nurses
This is a reminder to all parents and guardians. Medications should be brought in by an adult and never by a student. No student should be in possession of any type of medication without prior approval. All medications, including over-the-counter, cannot be administered without an order from the doctor. Medications can be brought in by an adult to the main office, where a nurse will be called to retrieve medications. Information regarding the administration of medications has been attached to our News and Announcements section below.
Also another reminder to all parents and guardians that an extra set of clothes should be kept in each student's bag for accidents, falls, spills, etc. Things happen and the nurse's office is very limited in clothing. If a change of clothes is not provided or available to students, guardians will be called to bring change of clothes for their student which takes away from class time and interrupts busy schedules. We hope you understand and can help make these instances easier.

STUDENT OF THE MONTH CHARACTER TRAIT
For the month of March we will be discussing and learning about Courage. We will be working to teach students that being courageous means standing up for what you know is right – even when you are afraid and others do not stand with you. Children who have Courage, admit when they are wrong, make good choices when others do not, are kind to those who are unkind, and ask for help when they need it.
We will be celebrating these students on Friday, April 14, 2023. More information will
be shared with these families by classroom teachers.
PREVIOUS REMINDERS
This year we have been closing our parent drop off gate at 9am and will continue to do so as courtesy to our families for the remainder of the year. Next year, however, our gate will close at 8:55am daily. Our student handbook clearly states that students should arrive between 8:45 and 8:55 in the morning and that any students arriving to classrooms after 9am are late for school. Please see the excerpt below from the handbook.
ARRIVAL AND DISMISSAL TIME Tier Three Schools
Tier Three Students should arrive at school between 8:45 am and 8:55 am. Students who arrive at their classroom after 9:00 A.M. and are not transported by our bus company are late for school. Repeated tardiness is regarded as a serious problem that may affect a child's work habits and success at school. At the elementary grades parents are expected to ensure that their child arrives at school on time.
Please avoid any change of dismissal from occurring after 2:45pm. If you know that your student's dismissal plan will change on any given day or time of day, be sure to contact the office well before 2:45. Dismissal changes should be sent in writing to a classroom teacher if at all possible. We can not dismiss students from the office after 2:45pm. We appreciate your understanding.
We would also like to remind everyone that students should not be bringing toys to school. This includes Pokemon Cards. As stated in the past, we are not responsible for lost or stolen items. Toys are often the cause of many peer conflicts that disrupt student learning. We would appreciate your support in ensuring that students are not bringing toys to school.
PTO Updates
There will be a PTO meeting, Wednesday, May 10th at 6:30 in our school library. We hope you can join us!
Warm regards,
Mrs. Nichols, Principal
Mrs. Dalessio, Assistant Principal
