STUDENT OF THE MONTH CHARACTER TRAIT
For the month of March we will be discussing and learning about Courage. We will be working to teach students that being courageous means standing up for what you know is right – even when you are afraid and others do not stand with you. Children who have Courage, admit when they are wrong, make good choices when others do not, are kind to those who are unkind, and ask for help when they need it.
Students selected for January’s character trait for leadership will be celebrated virtually on Thursday, March 6 (rescheduled due to the snow day). Teachers will be sharing virtual links and details later this week. Students selected for February´s character trait for respect will be celebrated in late March. More details on this date to follow.
PREVIOUS REMINDERS
The gate at parent drop off closes at 9am. Please note that the staff outside running our car lines are classroom teachers and their instructional time begins at 9am. It is important that they return to their classrooms to begin working with students. For this reason we must close the car drop off gate at 9am. If you arrive and the gate has been closed, you must drive your car to our main entrance and students must be brought into the main office.
Please remember that all toys (including Pokemon cards) belonging to students should remain at home. Students should not be bringing toys to school as they often become a distraction to student learning and can usually result in peer conflict when these items become traded, borrowed, or lost. We can not be held responsible for any items that become lost or stolen and we hope that you can support us in reiterating our rules and expectations regarding toys with students.
Our students will go out to recess as long as it is not raining or snowing and the windchill is not a factor. With that said, we want to remind families to dress students appropriately for outdoor play for their 30 minute outdoor recess. If your child is in need of a winter coat, please reach out to the school. We would be happy to help any students in need.
Lastly, please avoid any change of dismissal from occurring after 2:45pm. If you know that your student's dismissal plan will change on any given day or time of day, be sure to contact the office well before 2:45. Dismissal changes should be sent in writing to a classroom teacher if at all possible. We can not dismiss students from the office after 2:45pm. We appreciate your understanding.
